SAT technology

It’s a technology developed by Polar applied to inverter welders.                            Thanks to SAT technology (Software Arc Technology) all the parameters of welding and cut processes:                                                                                                            MMA: welding current, hot start current and time, arc force current increment, arc voltage, anti-sticking .......                                                                                             TIG: slope up, slope down, pregas, postgas, base current, frequency of pulsation, frequency of reversal, percentage of balance ......                                                       MIG: speed of the motor, welding voltage, spot welding time .....                              PLASMA: time of postgas, cutting current, pilot arc time......                                       come generates to you digitally acting on the dynamic response of the generator, and constantly monitored via software from a microprocessor.                                            The customer interface, that it is the instrument of communication between the customer and the microprocessor, enters the parameters and displays to you the state of the machine process allowing to control, through the functions of signalling and diagnostic, the effective correctness of the development of the welding or cut process.

SCT technology

It’s a technology developed by Polar for the own ones inverter battery chargers.   Thanks to SCT technology (Software Charging Technology) all the charging parameters: (end charge and maintenance voltage, constant current of charge, transition to floating charge current, re-enters in charge current, reversals of polarity and short circuits protections) and of starter (peak of the starter current, constant value of the charging current and the battery voltage) is obtained and controlled via software by microprocessor.                                                                                                                    The software of the digital interface concurs to set up the functions and the parameters and to control the effective course during proceeding of the processes of charging and starting.

Digital Resonant Wave Technology

Digital Resonant Wave is the POLAR way to resonant inverters.
Due to the long experience in designing and producing inverters for welding and battery charging, POLAR developed a proprietary technology in construction of resonant inverters.
The design started from the very good welding capability of the existing Polar machines, adding the advantages of the resonant topology in power management.
For this reason our resonant inverter has a resonant behaviour close to the maximum and, instead, a hard-switching behaviour close to the minimum.
In this way we have saved about 50% of thermal dissipation inside the primary stage allowing to produce a welding machine that, even if it is small, can weld continuously at ambient temperature.
The first step of the design was to check, by simulations, the circuit topology.
The very good relationship between the initial mathematical model (fig.1) and the measured waveform (fig. 2) ensures that Digital Resonant Wave has strong mathematical bases confirmed by the field application.
The digital structure has some advantages: repeatability, flexibility, and control of the functions made by software that communicate to the user through a digital display and leds.

Advantages for the user:
- Weight and size reduction.
- Output voltage high enough to have the best welding capability.
- Input current reduction.
